Ongare was the first Kenyan to win a Championships fight since 2010
Its not going so well for Team Kenya.
2018 Commonwealth Games bronze medalist Christine Ongare joined the growing list of Kenyans knocked out of the ongoing IBA Women's World Championships in New Delhi, India as she on Tuesday afternoon suffered a second round stoppage to Turkey's Erivan Barut in the second fight of the Elite Women's minimumweight bouts.
Ongare was dispatched in the first round of the Session 11A fight and couldn't make the eight second standing count that halted the Kenyan's progression into the tournament quarter finals.
The win for the European Under 22 gold medalist means that Ongare is now the 10th Kenyan boxer to be dismissed from the prestigious biennial championships that began last week.
The only Kenyan boxer active in the competition is the team skipper - Elizabeth Andiego - who is set to make her maiden appearance in this year's competition in a quarter finals matchup against Kazakhstan opponent Fariza Shotley on Wednesday.
Ahead of the fight, Andiego promised to give her best display in the fight, citing gaining knowledge from her past experiences and with a whole of study done on her opponent.
